Lost my first cichlid

I was just cleaning out my tank and I noticed one of my labs was missing. I found him dead under a rock with his eyes missing. He/she was one of my favorites,I don't know what made it die,i had him for about 8 months now and all my fish are doin fine.

probably bullying if its missing its eyes.
but also likely it got stuck after being inquisitive and the eyes got bacteria eaten first.
was it bullied/ chased alot?

I think he gotten stuck under a rock because that's where I found him. I didn't notice him missing til I cleaned my tank. He could've been dead atleast 4 days.

i think a good water change and gravel vac is in order, other than that im very sorry about the fish xx
