| Maylandia callainos? i think not so much please watch the following video (i know it is not great, but i is the best i can do) observe the "powder blue" cichlid with the stripes.
this fish was sold to me (at petsmart) as a "Cobalt Blue Cichlid" Maylandia callainos?.
he used to be a darker shade of blue, and had no stripes. but as he aged he has lighted and grown stripes.
what is he?
diet is NLS cichlid formula, Tetra Cichlid bites, Sprillina Bites, Corn and Peas. http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=DSCN0952.flv

| I couldn't see all that well but it looks like a Callainos to me. If it has stripes though I would say it's an Estherae.

| he does have stripes like this picture of Maylandia Estherae but that fish had spots on both the top and bottom fins, mine guy has 2 egg spots like THIS along with a general all around "look" of this fish. add to that the "female" who came from the same tank looks like a callainos and the look the same when i first bought them. it was only after a few months in my tank that he lighted up and developed the stripes
not that it is any better but you can see more of him at the end of this video... http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=DSCN0954.flv

| So in other words, your fish looks like this one? Check the second pic titled Blue Male.

| Similar to the 2.75" blue male pic? lol I'd say if it has the stripes it's an Estherae.

| He looks like a colbalt to me.
Travis S. took me to a cichlid place here in Denver and I saw some Maylandia peacocks that about made my eyeballs fall out. Talk about color. They were incredible.
Aulonocara Maylandia i think. Such eye candy |
