DeFeKt has fishy dreams
Melanochromis Maingano

Anyone keep these?
Anything I need to know before I purchase a colony I have lined up?
Done a heap of googling on them and different mbuna, just wondering on peoples personal experiences.
breeding colony of 10, ranging from small to 10cm. Larger ones sexes unknown but they are definetly breeding as there is fry for sale as well.

All I know is that the name has been changed to Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos and they probably could be kept as you would M. auratus, in that these are very aggressive, and keeping two males in the same tank is tricky.

What kind of setup do you have in mind?

100gal, this will be heavily rocked, sand substrate might even search for some crushed coral substrate for buffering properties. species only for the time being although I've heard they are aggresive more so to similar melanochromis and can maybe mix with a few haps or other mbuna or so, I spose some will always get singled out even in the quietest of tanks.
Not sure on sexes yet, it's hard to tell, pick them up saturday.
