I keep mine in a 20g long with Caribsea's cichlid sand, they're no more difficult than any other rift lake cichlid. I started with 2 males and 4 females and now I have a constant supply of fry for sale. I purchased my shells from Amazon but there are loads of other places to buy from.

Would it be plausible to have a small community in a 10g?

You could but the longer footprint definelitly has its advantages with regards to controlling aggression.

Okie doke. Well I have a 10g available but was trying to set up a 20g long for an Apisto pair. If I try to stay to one male for the Multies will that help? I could always go a different direction with the 10g though.
