Hey All,
So i Have finally finished my stocing of my 50gal and im so excited and happy with the fish i got. The stocking is as follows -
5 Labeotropheus Fuellborni
1 Female electric yellow
1 Hongi
The Hongi is probably my favourite because his colour is amazing and awesome for a 2 inch fish. Cant wait for them to grow up and show their full mature colours anyway pics :D

Tank looks great but your a little understocked with only 7 fish which could lead to some aggression issues. If a particular fish gets singled out it will be hard for it to disappear into the crowd so to speak.

Thanks :)so what other types should I add or just maybe another hongi and electric yellow?

I would bump up both the electric yellows and the hongi to 5 each giving you 15 fish which will be about right. Also with just the 3 species you cut down drastically on cross breeding.

Electric yellows and Hongi are both Labidochromis and can Hybridize.

I realise this but with decent numbers of these and only 3 species it is less likely than with more species.

Provided there is enough females of each for the males is about the only thing that will help. Otherwise you are bound to end up with hybrids.

Yes that was my point 1 male for 4 females in each species.

Almost all africans run the risk of hybridization unless kept in a species only tank, up the number of all your fish 1 male to 4 females i would even say five females if you have really good filtration and are good with water changes. dont save any fry unless its for personal tanks or friends that know what they're getting into. That's my opinion anyway.

I was actually hoping to get five of both yellow labs andbhongi butt noticed that they had the chance of that so decided against it what if my fish aren't fighting though? The yellow lab breaks all the fights up and doesn't let anyone get bullied

I concur 100% with all of the above.I was simply helping to reduce the odds for hybridisation.Anyway we begin to wander from the original post.My apologies to the poster.

eventually as your fish mature they will show aggression to each other, so i would recommend adding more fish, i also think they are so much more active when in groups and it makes the tank so much more lively!
