neutralizing aggression.... - Aquarium Advice

hi

i have one very aggressive cichlid. he is a cobalt blue cichlid and he out eats everyone and nips at everyone and is getting really fat.

only other malawi cichlids in his tank, 29 gal. all babies.

how can i get him to chill the f out?

Put him in a larger tank. The tank size is too small for him. And since he is in the tank full of fry, he is the dominate one. He needs a tank size of at least 55 gal. Put other Malawi Africans of his size in the tank and the aggression SHOULD even out.

he is a baby too. just as small as the others.

What other fry are in the tank? Do you know the scientific name of the cobalt? There are two different ones.

The first one is a Maylandia lombardoi AKA Kenyi Cichlid. Is it the one that is showing the aggression? The second pic, middle fish looks like a Maylandia Estherae. Do you have any pics from the side? The one on the right is a Pseudotropheus socolofi "Albino". And the one on the left I can't tell. I would need a side pic for that one.

The Kenyi being the aggressor does not surprise me. IMO they are in the top 5 of the most aggressive Africans. If s/he is showing this much aggression right now, be careful in the future.

First pic is an Auratus. The most aggressive Mbuna. Be VERY careful with this one. Second one I'm not sure. Third one is the Estherae, and the last one is the Albino Socolofi.
