I'm thinking of using my 25g tank for cichlids. I have a fluval 206 canister filter, a 150w heater, and T8 lighting set a side for this tank ( + possibly a HOB or bubble filter if required). having not kept them before i was wondering

1, what would be suitable
and
2, how many

many thanks for your help.

Most typically kept cichlids are kept in 55 or larger. How ever there are some very nice dwarf cichlids that would work well in that tank. They all have great colors and great personality. I prefer them to mbuna mostly due to personality.

Pair of German Blue Rams (established tank required for GBR's)
Or
Pair of Kribensis
Or
Apistogrmamas

I've been to my LFS today and seen some dwarf cockatoo cichlids and think they look pretty cool. 1male and 3 females for £30 ($50)

They also had some dwarf jewels, how can you sex these as they all looked the same apart from a few bigger ones? 2 for £12 ($20)

Get the cockatoos. I'm bias but they really are a amazing fish. Very community friendly and my male is very puppy like. Begs for food, follows me around the room
