Any one know any thing or any experience with this filter I received with a basically free 55. What kind of media do it need and it has the extra black pad kinda like a scrubb pad.

It looks to me like an old marineland penguin 330. I've still got one of them. The new ones are penguin 350s. You can buy marineland rite size C cartridges or equivelant. Aquatech I do belive sells them. Just look for the "Rite Size C" and you'll be good to go. There's also other cheaper alternatives. That black pad was prob used to polish the water. Your definetely missing your biowheels. I can't tell if you have the whole intake tube or not.

Yea I think its missing the end of the tube that stops big things from getting in and would it work without the bio wheel

So I jus end up getting a new filter its a fluval 50 is that a good one it will be on the 55 with a aqueon 30 filter

I bet I have the rest of the intake tube and strainer for your Penguin. And you can use them without the bio wheels, you just have to be careful about switching your cartidges

Well what could I use to attach a Peice of mesh to act as a strainer for the intake, rubberband maybe

Rubberband would work but don't use anything metal
