put details in this thread about how you care for yours and maybe add a pic! thanks everyone :)

i have mine in a 75. temp kept about 78 degrees. pwc 75% per week. feed once a day a decent serving of Hikari cihclid gold small pellets.
2 oscars, Veron is 5.5in an Managuense is 4.5in. they are in with a 5in L-83, a 1in auratus and 1.5in RZ (supposed to be feeders but have been happily in with them for 6 weeks now!).

i love them and every day i watch them and think how lucky i am!
plus, they have been doing something odd. they always swim together, sleep together, nudge/reverse into/ fin stroke eachother and shimmy a lot. but fo the last 2 weeks they have been making a pit in the corner of the tank, then later on covering it with sand again. i watch them do it - they use thier chins!
and in the last week the area been getting bigger and hardly a sand grain is left where they have cleared, then they ruin it and restart EVERY DAY. no fights at all, they seem very very close. and iv seen Veron make an egg-laying imitation and Manna will zoom over and search for eggs as if looking to fertilise! i know it could be a year to 2 years, but this is hopeful!!

your oscar was epic! and so cute. how big is it? do u still have it? xx

and im really hoping i get fry, just cos of how cool it would be lol.

thanks!! he's about 2yrs old now & around 11+inches .. i raised him from 1 to 10inches

i rehomed him to a good friend who has multiple oscar tanks .. he went in a 125gal w/ two others, smaller than him, & he actually killed one :( .. him & his other tankmate are pals now though :)

& that would be very cool to get fry .. i'd love to breed oscars!!

Here are my 2 tiger Oscars. Haven't named them yet because I don't know any good names. They are in a tank with a small jack and a huge 12" sailfin pleco and a rosy red that turned out to be a friend for now and soon the new addition of a cucumber slider turtle but I'm waiting for my fish to get bigger so soon.

Here they are eating, feeding time is a bit messy. I feed them like 2 pellets each in the morning some freeze dried blood worms and shrimp at lunch and a big fat meal worm for dinner

have you tried feeding them any veggies or anything? did it work?

i found my adorable Manna (the tiger) eating one of the flags yesterday. does Veron ever eat the feeders or tankmates? no :p

how old do you think they are?thanks! x

I haven't tried veggies yet because they mainly need protein but starting next month I'm gonna try a variety of veggies and I think they are about 6 months old. They should be about 7-9 inches at a year old

thats helped big time.

how fast are they growing? x

I cam see the difference and I have only had them about 2 weeks. Some say they grow an inch a month but you have to keep them on a varied diet with 3 feedings a day and you must give them high protein foods till they reach about 7 inches then you lower the feeding to twice a day. But if they stop eating just ignore it for a couple days and try again
