PH and buffering

Just wondering what everyone keeps their PH at and if they buffer to achieve that level. My PH sits at around 7.6-7.8 without buffering if I bypass my water softner. I am interested in getting my fish to breed and want to provide the best levels for that.

I have my ph on 8.2 steady. At all times. Cichlids breed when they or ready to do. I never raised my PH because it hard to keep it steady

Those levels would be in the prime areas for rift lake Cichlids. Mine is at 7.8 without a buffer also with well water and mine breed.

Good to know as I would prefer to avoid having to buffer if possible. It's one less thing to have to worry about.
