It is ok for an oscar, tank mates might be tricky.

Oscars grow around 1" per month until they hit the 9" range the. They're growth rates slow till they reach sexual maturity around 18 months...this period is when you'll have issues with tankmates being injured or killed(up till this time it will be small scuffles but should be damaging yet). A bristlenose plec works well as one but if your looking for a third be ready at a moments notice to remove the third fish, I if anything would try a male/female HRP...something with a little testosterone to help defend itself when the big bad wolf comes knocking. Good luck oscars are one of my favorites.

whats the difference between convicts and HRP's? besides the obvious color...???
