Does anyone add salt to your cichlid tanks?

yes...aquarium salt...i do about 1/4 to 1/2 the recommended...

I do not. It is not necessary unless treating the water for infections. I'm not saying not to do it or that it is bad...just that you shouldn't feel like you have to do it

I used to when I was still adding stock, but now that everything is settled I tapered it out. Just one more expense/thing to worry about.

Some cichlids prefer higher GH, so adding salt is good if your GH is low coming out of the tap. My tap GH is 6 or so and I buffer it to 15.
