Salvini coloration? How to sex them?

Hi guys, I'm about to go to work so I can't take pics(will do tonight). I came accross two beautiful Salvini at my local petstore and was told that they would turn yellow. I googled salvini fish and they all seem to be yellow except for a few(1 for every 20 pics). Now the ones I saw were dark grey and had blue stripes... I bought a pair(Hope it's a male and female I will post pics tonight) and they're both dark grey... I was told that as they start the breeding mode they turn yellow(at least the female)... is this possible or true? Because like I said, these are dark grey with neon electric blue stripes.

also, how would you sex them? I heard the red belly story but I haven't checked yet( will do tonight )... any other tips? Thanks!!! And they're on a 40G long breeder so they are fine.

Females has a black blotch on the dorsal and a black dot on the lower jaw.
