Hey all,
I have a juvenile salvini cichlid, and I am wondering if anybody can determine the sex on it. I previously thought it was a male because of no dark gill cover spot, and I never noticed a dark blotch on the dorsal fin. However, when I was really looking at it the other day, I realized it did in fact have a dark blotch on its dorsal fin - it still hasn't shown any sign of a dark gill cover spot.
Attached is the picture, thanks!

The best methods of visually sexing salvini females is the black blotch on dorsal fin then followed by the presence of a black spot on the operculum.

It's a female.

Thanks! I was hoping it was a female; I want to introduce a small group of juvenile salvinis and try to get a natural/breeding pair, and all of the fish stores around here only sell males.
