Severums with silk/plastic plants
Just out of random curiosity (since I've been looking up severums lately), how do they fare with artificial plants? I know they devour live plants but wasn't sure how they fare with fake ones.

My severum occasionally digs the fake plants out of the gravel and moves them around a bit. But pretty much they are left alone.

So if they were silicon'd to a piece of slate they'd probably be essentially safe?

Safety isn't an issue. Severums do fine with plastic plants. The only issue is that you may have to stick them back in the gravel after the severum rearranges your tank. If you siliconed them to the slate you may not have to replant them as much, but sometimes cichlids like severums would dig down to the slate anyway.
