Ok I am starting my Cichlid build and had a few questions. First off can I use slate from lowes? The next question can I setup the slate for the size they are now and rearrange as they get bigger?

Slate should be fine, i use some slate in my tanks, just make sure to wash it really well. as far as rearranging i rearrange around once a month. So yes rearanging as they get bigger is a good thing.

I like to rearrange my mbuna tanks every couple months as this helps with aggression, making every fish start looking for their own territories again. Plus I get bored and tired of looking at the same rock formations.
