Anyone ever used pure tea tree oil in a tank to aid fin repair?

Basic science here- oil and water do not mix. Pure tea tree oil will also likely kill your fish. Products such as melafix/pimafix contain numerous other 'adjuvants' to try and emulsify their product in water and I believe are only 5% of the active ingredient. Lots of healthy water is probably the most effective 'cure' for fin damage if there isnt an infection present.

Agreed, keeping your nitrates below 20ppm is the best at speeding along the healing process for fin damage. You should see signs of healing within 2 days.
