Thoughts on my Scapes suitability for Mbuna

100 gallon. Is this ok for them? Pirate ship pieces have hiding places and rocks too. Click image for larger version

I prefer the more natural look with piles and piles of rocks, but if you have enough hiding spots and lots of blocking of line of sight then this really helps ease aggression.

I would do lots and lots more hiding spots. On a 55g tank you are going to need approximately 12 ish fish for normal stocking. Each of those fish should have a cave.

I would switch your gravel over to pool filter sand, mbuna LOVE to dig. As everyone else mentioned, more hiding spots would be good.

Also I forgot to mention there's some great 3d rock backgrounds that work really well for mbuna.

Acrylic Black Paint for the background would be good as well and really make your fish's color pop, but if you have the budget to go with a 3D background, it's definitely the way to go.
