Syndontis cats, some plecos are really your only options. Some top water fish may work... but can be quite risky.

I seen the feather fin but my only concern would be my cichlids harassing him, would a 55 be ok to house 1 or 2

Id go with a few of the smaller syndontis in a 55, thats quite small. Maybe 4-5 dwarf petricola would be best IMO
