The setting:

55 gal, good conditions, some live plants. 1 Oscar (5"), 2 dempseys (1-4", 1-2"), 1 managuense (4") and a sailfin pleco. They all grew up together from 1-2" originally. Oscar has eye problem (popped, white, meaty looking; this is a different story).

Last night, as I was checking on the tank, there are fry!!!!! Looks to be over 100, obviously the dempseys (they are protect them).

What are the odds that not only the two are m/f but are an acceptable mating pair? The size difference between the male and female is huge!

Female is currently watching over the fry while the male keeps the managuense and oscar on the other side of the tank. Female has chased the pleco away too. I'm going to get a brine shrimp incubator soon. I know the very best thing to do is to move them to their own tank but that's not really an option for me. I never ever expected this to happen.

Any other advice?
