What is a good temperarure for african cichlids?

I currently have my tank heater set at 76 degrees fahrenheit is this correct??

Ya that would be fine it keeps aggression down. I have mine in the 77-80F range.

Alright I'm just buying fish so would they still be able to breathe? And my room
Is pretty dark and I don't have a light for the fish excepty room light which is pretty bright will that be any problem to the fish?

I dont know why haha but think about it like this. When it is really hot outside and there are other ppl around being annoying i wana snap. The temperature kinda affects them like that. It gets them more active.
