Hoplias aimara is just about the most aggressive fresh water fish hands down. My buddy has one and even at 6" she's an absolute terror. Anything that enters the tank will be met with a swift and hard bite.

The Haitian cichlid was by far the toughest beast I ever kept and quite possibly the most fun. It's definitely not a snook, the mouth isn't right.

I had read this link when my friend got some Dovii. It is a cool list. I have Africans Cichlids, and I have not goten into Central and South American Cichlids. The Black Nasty that you mention is on the top ten list as well.
