I have two of those in my tank.

Question... One of them is starting to lose its bars and I'm wondering if their colors change as they mature?

Mine doesn't seem too aggressive, maybe because it's still small

the males change color they loose the yellow and get black bellies if they are loosing the black stripes then they are stressed.

They are mellow as babies but as they grow watch out.

I have an all mbuna tank 14 of them ranging around 2 1/2" one auratus is going through some change and growing! I'm thinking is a male.
So far so good in this tank, there have been some other trouble makers removed. African tanks have always been a toss of the dice for me.
