Of course not I think the cichlid pellets are a good staple, you could try lettuce??

Haha thought so! And no I have not but it doesn't seem too nutritious lol I stuck a broccoli stem in there for my placco and my oscar played with it but never ate it haha

Frozen or freeze dried krill or shrimp once or twice a week wouldn't hurt

I fed my Oscars night crawler worms often.
Depending on where you live, they are easy to catch at night. Try to catch a Snipe too. They're delicious to an Oscar as well.
It's free food. All you need to do is depoop the worm. Not necessary to do, but it won't mess up your tank as much.
