What type if cichlid is this?!

Hey guys I was at petco last night and some one donated a cichlid so I adopted him. The workers had no clue what type of cichlid it is, some didn't even know it was a cichlid. So I took it home and can't figure out what it is, the shape and face reminds me of my jack Dempsey but the color is way off and it has no verticals stripes. Any body have any ideas?!

This is most likely a mutated Jack Dempsey. May be valuable, you may be quite lucky to have him!

Yeah I was kinda thinking that or a Dempsey hybrid of some sort, best part is it was free lol

its definitley a jewel cichlid. they are pretty aggressive so watch out. mine got 5 1/2 inches, and was very territorial. make sure you have a large tank to accomidate him.

that's deff a jewel cichlid...beautiful fish to own...very aggresive when they reach there adult size though...be careful with whatever fish you house with it

I have a jewel thats prob 4 inches, this particular one is the biggest in the tank and the most docile. wierd.
