What type of rock is this??

These rock will not raise your pH. To get pH of 8.2 -8.4 you will need to use limestone. The white rock in the second tank is Texas Holey Rock (limestone) which is used for African Rift Lake aquaria. It gives fish lots of hiding spots.
 
If there are little green crystals in a basalt I would be Leary if using it in an aquarium. The crystals are olivine and oxidise quickly. A olivine basalt may not be very strong after the olivines weather out.
