I was sold this and was told it was a jack Dempsey,but my wife says it's not.So is it or not a jack Dempsey?

To be honest, it looks like a Jeweled Cichlid (http://www.aquariumlife.net/profiles/african-cichlids/blue-jewel/100150.asp). Of course you don't have to tell her she was right.

Thanks,and most of the time she is right and she knows it.I really wanted a jack Dempsey but maybe later,this is still a nice looking fish

The jewel as they mature they can be aggressive.

I have a breeding pair of jewels in with my mbunas. Theyre the biggest fishes in the tank and they are not overly aggressive with anyone. They just protect their nest, otherwise they mind their own.
