I'm getting corals soon. So I'm wondering if I need to add additives after I get a good amount of corals. Right now I'm using reef crystals. Are those enough for my new corals coming? The tank is 20 gallons.

Ok.... I thought since there would be a lot of corals, the magnesium levels and such would be depleted

Im with Doug. Partial water changes will work as far as replenishing trace elements and taking out excessive nutrients. You would have to have alot of corals to need additives and even then you dont add anything unless you can test for it first.

Maybe 5 different kinds of soft and Lps corals

Lol that's not a lot :). I have about 30 different corals in my tank mostly lps and sps with some zoas and I don't dose anything. Just weekly water changes and they all grow great.
