I've got it. And I don't want it. I noticed it when I first started my tank and it was due to over feeding which I've cut back on tremendously. But now I don't know what to do. Is this something my clean up crew should be doing?

Diatoms feed off of silicates, normally from the sandbed, and die off once they are consumed. Sometimes disturbing the sandbed in a big way can bring them back as silicates are once again available to consume from the bottom of the tank/sandbed.

I do recently rearrange the tank for new fish. Could that be it?

I just had a diatom breakout the l.f.s. Said leave it, it will go away by itself and he was right, as fast as it came it left and now rocks are turning green which is next step so don't worry about it.
