Is high alk dangerous?

I am using Instant Ocean reef master test kit to monitor water in a 10G tank. Initially, pH = 7.8 and alk 3.5. After supplementing water with Seachem marine buffer, pH = 8.3, but and alk = 7.0 (which is outside the kit's range) according to test kit! Is this expected or dangerous to livestock?

Don't personally know about that but you shouldn't use those buffers anymore.

As long as your pH is stable and a little low its better than fluctuating and sometimes right.
