For me, its gotta be the protein skimmer. It is far and a way my most dreaded maintenance. It is simply nasty!
 
Cleaning the plumbing is my least favorite. It's not stinky, like a skimmer, but taking it all apart for a good cleaning and reassembling takes a long time. I only do it twice a year though. Probably should do it more because the last time I did it (a month ago) nitrate dropped from a steady 5ish to zero and holding.
 
Good news is that it's working I suppose. It's the Eshopps nano-skimmer. It pulls a lot of nasty out of my system every week.
 
I dont mind cleaning my skimmer, it does stink a bit but its very easy to clean.
