K so I'm confused I have heard from some people that filters in a nano tank are not good because toxins build up in the filter chamber

K as for media should I skip the sponge and stick with bio and chem?

I using an hob with no carbon on my 10 gallon, live rock does ur bio filter. Besides that I've got lights, heater and two power heads. Keep an eye on ur water parameters. Also, I left the sponges in the filter and added phosphate reducing pads for added filtration. So far things are going well.
