New coral build..

Do all corals need a sand substrate? I currently have a tank thata been empty but running for almost two months with nothing but argonite substrate.. Its not sand but i fear if i add a goby it will be to big and rip his mouth.. Its like very very tiny lil rocks.. You all know what im talking about! Do all corals need sand?

Some do as their exoskeleton rest on the sandbed and coarse sand and rocks can irritate them. I also woudl worry about any sand sifters you get too. oart of the reason I went with PFS. Cheap and fine grain.
