Hey guys! Iv been looking into getting a new fish for my 20 gallon nano reef. At the moment i have Yellow tailed damsel fish
False clownfish
Kenya tree
Zoanthids
Favia brain coral

I have a gravel substrate and plenty of LR 35x water flow. Protein skimmer, canister filter(i know its dangerous but i clean it out regularly), and t5 ho 2 bulb fixture i run my tank at 80 degrees.

THATS EVERYTHING! Please lemme know what you guys think in terms of a new fish or even general advice. Ill post a picture later!

Could only get a picture of the clowns reflection in the mirror haha

I heard they prefer sand substrate

yes that's true, sorry i didnt look at your pic carefully enough, im using the app. if that's the case, royal gramma, firefish, an anemone, pygmy wrasse are all good choices as well. i do belie sandy substrate on the goby is a recommendation, but not an absolute necessity

Iv been looking at the black cap basslet. Do you know much about them? Im staying away from fire fish because i have an open top due to my light fixture(pain in the ***)

Basslets can be a tad nasty but you already have a damsel so those two might get along. lol

I actually got really lucky with him. I originally got him with a domino damsel to help cycle but the other was a bully. It made him really passive. They both survived the cycle but when i got my clown the domino bit my clown pretty rough in the side iof the face. So naturally i threa him off a a ship haha but hes real passive along with my clown. They are buds :) i heard the basslet is agressive with others of the same species

As damsels age they get mean and cranky, kinda like real people. LOL

But if you are willing to go the semi aggressive route then it might be ok. The clown is in the damsel family anyways so they might all be "tough" enough to survive together. lol
