Im thinking of starting a nano reef in a 20 gallon cube or a fluval edge twelve gallon and i have the following questions

1. What is the better dry or live rock ( i know dry can be seeded)

2. Will lfs let you pick the rock forms you like because as some of you might know the fluval edges opening is quite small

3. Will a fluval spec 5 converted to SW work as a quarantine tank ( only considering it because it is cheap and comes with everything but heater since id be buying salt etc already ) keeping maintenance on check

Thanks in advance

1) dry rock shoukd be base rock or uncured rock. That is the stuff you would want to use on the botttom and during the cycle. Live rock youll want to add after because anything living wil die during a cycle. But the bacteria on it does help.

2) my lfs here lets you pick whatever you want

3) not sure about this one. If keeping nano fish i wouldnt see a problem with it. But im not sure about the specs or how big that tank is.

The spec os 17 in long x 10.5 inches tall x 6.3 in deep long and slim
