Ive had this guy for about a week now and im in love with him. Just wanted to show him off lol but any tips on how to get them to grow quickly? Also i have this other one that im not too sure what it is, but the guy at the LFS said it was also a toad stool leather, but im not sure. Toadstool leathers, which those are, can be slow growers. They will go through processes where they will appear 'stressed', but are actually shedding the outer layer of 'skin'. This is believed to assist with the prevention of parasites.
As they are soft corals, they do not use calcium to build a skeleton. In theory, can grow faster but at the end of the day it can depend on the system and where they are in the system. In my tank, SPS coral grow faster than anything else in the system, even with phosphates that slow the growth of calcium based skeleton building corals.
