Skimmer advice !

Hi my nano tank was quit noisy so I replaced the impellers on the two motors in my tank and it is a lot better except there is a loud noise from my skimmer .i have the aqua one 36 .can I turn off the skimmer when I am in the room watching tv .or do I have to try and replace the skimmer or are they noisy anyway?i am new to marine tanks any advice is welcome thanks

a skimmers efficiency is directly related to the length of time its allowed to run. that being said, unpluggin it everyday, even if for only an hour or two, is going to reduce the efficiency of said skimmer.
