Just wanted to update all that were interested in the fact that I removed the skimmer (Tunze9002) from my tank. All is well. Water parameters are spot on. No phosphates or nitrites. My nitrAtes are 0.05 my calcium and alk were a little low but that was due to a burst in coral growth.

So with 5 gallon weekly water changes it appears most were right, skimmer is not really needed.

Just wanted to post, incase anyone was interested.

Yea I used to have one on my 10 gallon but didn't really see any benefit so I took mine out as well. I'd be interested to know at what tank size does one start to see a benefit by adding a skimmed. Thoughts?

Good question, maybe after 40 gallons? Like a 55?

It was a huge waste for me. Didn't do anything but make noise lol.
