Looks like heat wave on the way can I float a small bag of ice in my 12 g nano? Saving $ for a chiller

Yes, but be careful that you don't drop the temperature too fast a/o too low. It doesn't take much in a 12 gallon tank. Is running the AC an option?

Has the big chill finally broken? My niece went back home (San Diego) after a visit and had to put a sweater on <g>. I want to head out for a visit but why bother when the weather is nicer here?

I agree. Ice in a smaller tank can cause big swings in temp which is not good for your tankmates. I have found that putting a small clip on fan and blowing air across the surface will lower the temp and maintain it.

Have a fan blowing on it most of the time we run a evaporative cooler. This will be the first heat wave since I started my tank. Hood has fans too. Just want to be prepared. Maybe a small chip in the overflow?
