Yes you def need skimmer to run biopellets but you should really have a skimmer anyways

I've been using the vodka method for about 4 months with great results using this article as a guide: Vodka Dosing by 'Genetics' and 'Stony_Corals' - Reefkeeping.com

Make sure you follow the dosing directions and have a great skimmer. I'm maintaining at 2ml per day. I still do 15% water changes every 2-3 weeks.
