Has anyone used the craft polyester filling sheets or loose stuffing in their filters?

This is what I'm thinking: using the poly fiber pads cut to size, or loose poly fil stuffing in media containers in our filters to filter out the solid debris.

Is this safe to use in aquariums?

How often should it be replaced?

Hi, polyfil is brilliant at polishing your water and is very widely used, in freshwater tanks anyway. I use 100% polyfil(loose). Just make sure it has no additives, fire-retardants etc. I only change mine when it get really brown , almost black. Some change it every few weeks. It's up to you, i just rinse and squeeze it in old tank water.....
