1000 gph to much??

I just switched my power head from 230 gph to circulation mode which is now 1000 gph is that to much flow for a 55 gal tank ?? No corals yet just fish but corals and anenomes in a few mths

Ya that's still on the low side at about 20x turnover

Yeah if you want a mixed reef I'd shoot for 30-35 x turnover.

So u are saying 1000 gph isnt enough flow eithor?

It is right on the low end for a reef tank in a 55. I have more flow than that in my 20 at times

Basically multiply your tank size by turnover rate. So 30 x turnover in a 55 would be 55 x 30= 1,650 gph

Ok i see the formula but where did the number 30 come from for turn over rate?

That just seems like crazy flow bc with the 1000 gph circulation pump the fish are getting blown around everywhere lol
