I would go with 3 at least. They say 1 halide for every 2 feet.

You`ll need to go with three or the top braces will cast shadows in your tank.

I agree they cover a big area but there will always be the top braces on your tank that will cast shadows on some areas of your tank. You wont be able to escape them unless you have all three areas covered.

A local guy here has always ran 2 400's on his 125. Not sure about the shadow issue though. I never noticed one though. I think 3 would be the best route.
