35ppm or 1.025?

My new refractometer says that 35ppm equals 1.026 specific gravity. I have seen 1.025 specific gravity and 35ppm salinity recommended. Now that I can measure and fine tune salinity, which should it be, 1.025 or 35ppm?

Also, I have one 55 gallon tank that is at 1.029. A one gallon water change reduces the specific gravity about .001. How often should I do the water changes to reduce the salinity?

When using a refractometer it measures the salinity NOT the SG. I keep my tank at a salinity of 35 ppt which would come out to a SG of 1.025-1.026 SG.

Typically refractometers have a scale for SG next to the salinity scale if they can do automatic temperature conversion as most are.
