Because you aren't going to use the extra few inches of height, and it's just going to hinder light penetration and reaching the bottom. The extra 15 gallons is not going to do much for stability either. I have my arm in my tank daily. I would not buy a deep tank again.

Good points. The 220 she wanted was a good 6 inches deeper than my shoulder to fingertip length. I don't want to put on a wet suit to do maintenance

I had a 265 before the 300, and that was 30 or 31" deep....I put a 6"+ sand bed in it and still hated it.

How deep is your 300?

It was 25" tall, but I sold it recently. I now have only the 105.
