I'm curing some dry rock for my 12 gallon i'll be setting up. I have cured plenty of rock, but only in larger tanks. Im curing probably around 20 pounds in a 20 gallon tank, with around 15 gallons of water in it.

I have a couple PH in there, and a big mag-drive. Started it this morning and i just noticed the temp was just under 90. Is there an acceptable range? I turned off the big one for now, but i'm afraid the smaller ones alone don't have enough power. Thoughts?

For cycling rock I wouldn't worry to much about the temp. I know of at least one person that cured their rock in the garage during winter and the temp stayed around 70ish so I don't think the temp is that big a deal.

If you are really concerned get a small fan to blow across the top to help cool the water.

I would not be too concerned of the temp either unless we are talking extremes.

With DRY rock I don't see a problem with that high of a temp. If it was LR I might be concerned with high temps.
