I'm currently Running a Magnum 350 canister filter with Activated Carbon inside of it. Would I be better off removing the Carbon and installing Eheim Ceramic filter media. I was told by my LFS that the ceramic would be much better because the carbon removes to many trace elements.

Any thoughts?

I think you can reuse the ceramic rings two. That would be handy.

Good luck Dewey

You probably don't want to use AC all the time. If your water starts to get a yellowish tinge to it, the AC will remove the compounds that are causing it. The ceramic rings are good bio media and, as Electrobes pointed out, require only occasional rinsing to keep them in good shape. I'd rinse them in tank water to keep from killing off so much of the bacteria on them though. Check the articles link on the home page for more info on AC.
