All- my plate coral was thriving, until my conch kept pushing sand on it. Now the areas that were covered with sand are dying. Will the coral survive? Should I try to cut off the dead area? Or, should I try to frag the healthy area for re-generation? Or should I just let nature take its course?!

Thanks,

Steve

I'm not 100% on a direct answer to your question, but I've read from many plate coral owners where they have had the plate coral apparently die, but then begin to regenerate itself or bud off babies. The consistent recommendation is to not remove the "skeleton" to see if this happens.
