advice on night creatures

i have a forty-six bowfront with a lot of occupants.during nightime when i shine a flashlight i cab see small reddish critters that move like the wind.they have what appears to be long tails.they move like a bug(cockroach)might on land.very fast and they hate the light.any suggestions?
