after adding live sand

i added some caribisea live reef sand to my tank
at the time i had diatoms from recycling my tank (had a massive cyno outbreak - shocked the cyno and killed it all (check - how i killed my cyno easily))
now i had diatoms -normal looking -
after i added the new live sand about 2 hrs after that the diatoms seems to had gotten fuzzy - looked kinda like cyno -but brown - not hairy- kinda slimey , kinda
ne1 know what this is?
is his normal?

Sounds like just another type of cyano to me. Unless you've fixed the root cause of the problem, then it will continue to return in whatever color it chooses. Good luck!
